From chest-rattling pressure to leftfield meditations, Boofy’s sizeable presence in UK club music is defined by his drive to do things differently. In step with the evolutions taking place throughout soundsystem culture in the 21st Century, his sound sprung from a foundation of 140 to take on the full spectrum of bassweight electronics according to his own interests and creative instincts.

BIO

It was around 2013 when Boofy first came through amongst the fold of dubstep and grime upstarts in the Bandulu Records camp, and he swiftly struck out on his own by establishing Sector 7 Sounds as a platform for the bass music he wanted to hear and play  out. Championing deep cover artists and pushing the sound forwards in the time-honoured fashion, Sector 7 has grown to become a vital temperature test for the rude health of the UK underground.

Throughout that time Boofy has continually moved forwards as a producer, dropping releases across essential labels from No Corner to Tectonic, Innamind to System Music, broadening his sound palette in the process. Look no further than his 2024  collaborative album with Jabu’s Amos ‘VMO$’ Childs, where he stripped his sound back to a set of delicate, meditative tape-loop miniatures and perfectly distilled sonic expressions. In the mix, you’re as likely to hear him chopping snappy electro into rugged 140 or 2-step swerves into rudeboy techno without missing a beat.

Through solo artist outlet Taekform Boofy finds an even greater degree of creative freedom to develop deeper ideas around tempo, rhythm and sound design. The grounding principles of sub-loaded physicality run through the music – beyond that, the outcome is open to any and all possibilities guided by a key player operating on his own terms.
